RCC 2020 Emerging Leaders Scholarship

Riccarton Community Church (RCC) is offering one $2,000 scholarship towards fees or living costs for first year students coming from outside of Christchurch to do tertiary study. RCC is an outwardly focused church with an extensive range of church and community ministries. We are constantly on the lookout for new leadership talent and there are numerous opportunities for leadership development.

  1. Selection Criteria

    We are looking for people who have:

    1. Leadership potential

    2. A commitment to Christian faith and ideals as well as an ability to live these out in everyday life.

      Please note that this scholarship is only available to New Zealand citizens or permanent residents.

  2. Requirements

    During the term of the scholarship (2020) the scholarship recipient will be required to:

    1. Be diligently involved in full-time tertiary study in Christchurch [1]

    2. Serve as a volunteer youth leader in our youth group team

    3. Be an active member of RCC’s young adults group for support and encouragement

    4. Regularly attend Sunday services at RCC.

      Being part of the youth team is a significant commitment but would be generally comparable to what would be expected if the applicant were to be a youth leader in their home church.

  3. Application Process

    1. Applications open 4 November 2019 and close 9 December 2019

    3. You will need to provide contact details for at least two referees one of which should be your Youth Pastor, Pastor, Minister or equivalent.

    4. There will be phone or skype interviews for applicants who make it to the short list.

    5. The decision will be made in December 2019 and all applicants will advised in writing of their success or otherwise before Christmas.

    6. The successful applicant will need to provide proof of enrolment prior to the start of the first semester in 2020.

  4. Additional Information

    1. The scholarship will be paid in four quarterly instalments.

    2. In the unlikely event the recipient is unable or unwilling to continue their studies they should give RCC one months in writing.

    3. In the case of 4b above RCC reserves the right to require repayment of the scholarship of the in part or full.

    4. In the unlikely event that the recipient fails to meet the requirements of section 2 above RCC researches the right to delay or terminate scholarship payments or require repayment of the scholarship in part or full.
